Olaf Holzapfel’s oil paintings are based upon drawings. The canvas itself is commonly divided into several individual surfaces. The resulting multitude of levels reveals separate spaces of color, which together are reminiscent of interrupted light and varied materialities. Through the harsh adjoinment of the fragments arises an impression of space.
