Christoph Schlingensief: Animatograph – Iceland Edition (House of Parliament / House of Obsession), 2005

The Animatograph is a spatial construction, an "actionistic photo-plate" which incorporates thematically Christoph Schlingensief’s provocative view of the paranoiac, claustrophobic, and incestuous disposition of human nature. Schlingensief links episodes of a Mystery House murder story with European and African spiritual traditions and weaves together filmic visions of the Wagnerian interpretation of the Holy Grail with the shamanistic traditions of Africa and the Icelandic Sagas (the "Edda"). Premiered in Iceland, further enactments in Neuhardenberg, Germany, Namibia, Vienna, Tibet, Brazil.> >
