The video is a life loop: It shows the artist and a Big Band performing for one hour; they are singing and playing a sad majestic melody to the words “sorrow conquers happiness.” The arrangement has various slow dynamics, we can watch small mood and position changes of the performers, but in essence it’s the same thing over and over again. The video is a still cinematic painting. The Living Art Museum in Iceland, where the work premieres, will be one big space covered in elegant pink curtains; the video is projected onto the end wall. A projector and a playback computer hang in the middle of the room and the sound system is behind the projection curtain. > >
